Dr. Anne Kossowan and the team at Kossowan Orthodontics offer their patients in Pelham, NY the latest and most advanced treatments available today, including clear braces. Patients considering different treatment approaches to their orthodontic needs can choose traditional braces, clear braces, lingual braces, or clear thermoplastic aligners. But what are clear braces? And are they better than metal ones?
Clear Braces
While traditional metal braces are made of metal brackets and wires that attach to the front surfaces of the teeth (some even come in a choice of colors for a bit of fun), clear braces are like traditional metal braces in that they are also affixed to the front surfaces of the teeth, but they are clear. Clear braces are made out of a clear, ceramic material made to mimic the shade of teeth. And they are much less noticeable to the casual observer than traditional metal braces are.
3 Benefits of Clear Braces
Clear braces are an option for teens and adults who need to wear braces but are concerned or self-conscious about how they will appear once the braces are on their teeth.
- They’re clear. Again, this system includes brackets that are clear, and made to match the color of your teeth, and that’s the main reason patients choose this system over metal braces.
- They’re effective. Braces are effective in treating the most severe of orthodontic issues. And while newer alternatives to braces are available, technology has not advanced so much that tray aligners can treat every case. Our Pelham, NY patients however, are confident that this system will treat the issue while being discreet and unobtrusive.
- They’re more comfortable. The metal parts associated with traditional braces can poke, scrape, and irritate the soft tissues of the mouth. This system involves a lot less hardware, so there is less of a chance for irritation to occur.
While traditional braces are a proven and effective treatment option, there are other approaches that can be less obvious and more comfortable like clear braces! Dr. Kossowan and her team at Kossowan Orthodontics have the knowledge and experience to help their patients in Pelham, NY choose the most effective and appropriate orthodontic treatment for their individual case. I like that this pointed out that clear braces have the strength to fix teeth that tray aligners are not able to. My friend wants to get braces, but is hesitant to get them because she’s an adult. I think I’ll share this article with her so she can see there are alternatives to traditional braces.
Appreciate the very comprehensive overview of what the bebefits are and what to expect from invisalign. I was going to go with traditional braces but the advantages you listed are incredible. Thanks!
